We understand predictive maintenance as a vital tool for maximizing plant availability and profits.
We understand the benefits of a predictive program... however do not document or measure our returns to management.
We are just launching a program or have struggled to collect and analyze our data regularly. We have not measured the effectiveness of our program.

3. What is your tolerance level of unplanned outages?

Unplanned downtime and outages cannot be tolerated in our environment.
Unplanned outages are inconvenient and costly... but we can usually deal with them.
Our program is for compliance purposes.

4. What is your estimated cost of an unplanned outage hour?

Lost revenue, downtime costs/penalties are in excess of $150,000 per hour.

We have a large facility(s) with constant needs for training.
Data collection and analysis is one of many jobs. We are always cross-training.
We frequently underestimate training costs and needs.

6. How do you use secondary technologies such as Oil Analysis and Infrared Thermography Analysis?

Routine Oil and Infrared Analysis is an integral part of my Predictive Maintenance Program.
Oil Analysis and Infrared is used to confirm suspected damaged components on key critical equipment.
I use a free service from my oil vendor. Unconvinced of the correlation of Oil and IR to Vibration.

7. What are your expectations of a condition monitoring provider relationship / interaction with your plant?

I need a partner that can provide the processes, discipline and qualified resources along with the most advanced technologies. I want to see all my predictive analysis technologies organized for quick determination of root cause.
At times I have a desire to see the detail, but primarily rely on my analysis vendor to provide the expertise to make informed predictive maintenance decisions.
I do not have analysis expertise. I need a partner I can trust to do the analysis for me.
