Burt Hurlock, CEO

Burt is CEO and a member of the Azima DLI Board. Burt is responsible for Azima DLI’s strategic growth initiatives and oversees the company’s day-to-day operations. Burt has spent 15 years as an entrepreneur and investor. He has founded, advised, built, operated, and/or sold almost a dozen venture-backed operating companies, and completed more than 40 acquisitions. Burt holds a Bachelor's Degree from Princeton University and a MBA from Harvard Business School.

Jonathan R. Hakim, President

Jonathan brings an extensive background in finance, business, and technology to Azima. He co-founded wireless bandwidth company A2Q and has advised many wireless and telecom start-ups. His previous positions include Director of the International Finance Corporation, as well as Managing Director at Lehman Brothers, where he was responsible for arranging financings for companies in Europe, the United States, and Latin America. Prior to that, he was Banking Editor of The Economist, interviewing many notable figures in banking and finance. He holds a Master's Degree from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor's Degree from Oxford University.

Joe Van Dyke, President, Government Services

During Joe Van Dyke's career at DLI Engineering, he managed commercial and government engineering activities and was a member of the company's senior management team. Joe is the original designer and developer of the automated diagnostic system software that is contained in the ExpertALERT predictive maintenance systems. Joe is a recipient of the US Department of the Navy’s Reliability, Maintainability and Quality Assurance Award in recognition of the contribution to the overall fleet readiness made possible through the development and deployment of Azima DLI’s ExpertALERT software. Joe holds a master's of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Washington and is a licensed mechanical engineer for the State of Washington. He is the author of several papers on the subject of automated diagnostic techniques for machinery.

Ken Piety, Vice President, Technology

Ken is a pioneer in vibration analysis and other condition assessment technologies, and was a co-founder of Computational Systems Inc. Also known in the industry as CSI, the company was acquired by the Fortune 500 giant Emerson Electric Company for $165 million. Ken was a key contributor at CSI for nearly 20 years, holding a number of senior-level positions in marketing and engineering. He holds more than 30 patents related to predictive and proactive maintenance technologies. In addition to CSI, Ken's skills have been put to work for General Electric, Technology for Energy Corporation, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and other leading organizations. Ken holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Tennessee.

Randy Johnson, Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Randy Johnson joined Azima DLI from Sendmail, Inc., a secure messaging infrastructure company, where he served as vice president, Americas. He previously held senior sales leadership positions at Emerson Electric in Emerson Process Management, Fisher-Rosemount and Intellution divisions, known for their leadership in Windows-based SCADA software, primary control elements, pressure, temperature and flow instrumentation, and DCS. Randy is an experienced sales and operations leader with a strong background in high-growth businesses, having previously held positions at leading companies including Hewlett-Packard and Computer Associates. Additionally, while at Iron Mountain, he served as senior vice president of sales for the Off-Site Data Protection division.
